This seminar will welcome 20 participants – managers, exhibitors and programmers of cinemas – from Saturday 27 June to Wednesday 1st July. They will come from 16 countries, notably from Japan and Mexico. Indeed, the seminar welcomes for the first time 2 professionals from South America and Asia in the framework of the Europa Cinemas / MEDIA International Programme.

Conducted by the film historian Ian Christie (Vice-President of Europa Cinemas and professor in London), the theme of this year’s seminar will be:

THE CHALLENGE OF GENERATIONS: How to cater for different generations of spectators in the same cinema? How to create programmes in which different generations of films are present?

During the debates translated into 3 languages (English, Italian, French), the participants will exchange strategies and experiences to attract new audiences in venues.

The film The Red Shoes by Michael Powell  has been chosen for a case study during the seminar and will be more particularly be looked at. Newly restored by Martin Scorsese's Film Foundation, the film will be programmed during the festival Il Cinema Ritrovato.
